Join us as we watch and pray through the night, keeping vigil with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
What is the Nocturnal Adoration Society?
The Nocturnal Adoration Society is an international Catholic apostolate dedicated to Eucharistic adoration throughout the night. Members typically commit to one hour of overnight prayer each month, taking turns to maintain a continuous vigil before the Blessed Sacrament. Through their faithful presence, adorers help ensure that the flame of prayer never wanes, offering a sanctuary of peace and grace for all who seek the Lord.
Nocturnal Adoration provides an opportunity to step away from the distractions of daily life and enter into a deeper encounter with Christ. Whether praying for personal intentions, family members, the Church, or the needs of the world, adorers join together in a timeless devotion that has inspired generations of Catholics.
Men's Nocturnal Adoration Society The Men's Nocturnal Adoration Society meets on the last Saturday of each month.
Women's Nocturnal Adoration Society The Women's Nocturnal Adoration Society meets on the Saturday before the last Saturday of each month.
For both societies, the evening begins at 9:00 p.m. in the Large Parish Center with fellowship and prayer. Hourly adoration begins at 10:00 p.m. in the church and continues through the night until 6:00 a.m.
All are invited to experience the peace, grace, and spiritual renewal that come from spending time in the Eucharistic Presence of Christ.
Historic Milestone for St. Alice
After two years of prayer, formation, and preparation, St. Alice Parish joyfully celebrated the installation of its Nocturnal Adoration Society on May 16, 2026. The men's and women's chapters became the first Nocturnal Adoration chapters in the Archdiocese of Portland.
Dedicated to honoring Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, members offer prayers of reparation, praise, and thanksgiving while interceding for the Church, our parish, our families, and the world. Their installation is a joyful sign of growing Eucharistic devotion and renewal within our parish and archdiocese.
Membership is open to all Catholics, with no age requirement. Families, youth, young adults, and adults of all ages are warmly welcome to join.
What Does Membership Involve?
Members make a commitment to spend one hour each month in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament during the nighttime hours at a parish where a local chapter of the Nocturnal Adoration Society is established. A voluntary goodwill offering is also available to help support the chapter's activities and expenses.
What Happens During the Hour of Adoration?
The Holy Hour includes periods of communal prayer, traditionally using the Liturgy of the Hours (Office of the Blessed Sacrament), along with seasonal and liturgical prayers prayed together as a group. Members also have time for silent prayer, reflection, and personal devotion before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
Why Join?
Nocturnal Adoration offers a unique opportunity to deepen your relationship with Christ through prayer, fellowship, and faithful devotion in the quiet hours of the night. It is a beautiful tradition that strengthens both personal holiness and the spiritual life of the parish community.
